In July 2017 former British Army officer George Vlachonikolis and two friends joined us to ascend Mt Korabi, at 2,764m the highest peak in both Albania and Macedonia (it straddles the border). Despite some truly horrible weather and almost-zero visibility, they made it to the top. Here are George’s comments.

“All in all, we had a fabulous five days in Albania (three and a half of which were courtesy of Drive Albania). Henri, in particular, was a super host and a real credit to your team. He drove well, talked a lot and generally looked after us immaculately. His language skills were excellent and he was able to share his knowledge of the country, culture and local politics throughout; something we all enjoyed a lot.

“My personal goal for the trip was to summit Mt Korab and we did it. So, job done. But Albania, and Albanians, also surpassed my expectations on many different levels. And I will certainly recommend it as a destination to others in the future.”

George Vlachonikolis, July 2017.
