In September 2017 we were joined by Hillary Atherton and her friends Alison Gibb and Liz Cleaver. Over the course of two weeks they travelled south from Kotor, Montenegro, to Saranda in the deep south of Albania (from where they caught the ferry to Corfu). Here are Hillary’s comments on the tour.

“This is long overdue but I wanted to say what a fabulous holiday we all had. We have all come back as ambassadors for the Albanian Tourist Board. The trip you organised really allowed us to get under the skin of the country – which I don’t think we could have done if we hadn’t got off-road into the mountains. Arranging the meetings with the Pashas and the Dukas was inspired – and really made the holiday.

“The hotels that you chose were excellent. Nowhere near what we were expecting from your pre-trip mail about flooded bathrooms and hapless service. They were all delightful – and very well chosen.

“Nesti really made the holiday. He’s is so energetic and lively but also completely responsible – always punctual, always cheerful and considerate and I think we all wanted to take him home with us. I had withdrawal symptoms having to fend for myself in Corfu! At no point did he give any impression that he was fed up with ferrying around three old birds. Quite an exceptional young man – and he taught us Albanian. Po, Liz? He is also an excellent driver. Even on the narrowest roads with bits missing we felt completely safe with him. I couldn’t praise him enough. What an asset he is for you.”
